A Quick Note Before We Begin:
Happy new month, love. 🎉
Whether May was kind to you or left you bruised, this is your fresh page. No need to rush. No need to fix everything at once. Just breathe.
By May 2025, I had decided to do something different with my life. I was ready. I signed up for the QA Mentorship program sponsored by QACE Academy Team, prepped my notes, cleared my schedule or so I thought. Then mid-May arrived like a truck with no brakes. My LinkedIn account got suspended without warning. The kind of depression that makes your bones feel heavy settled in. Deadlines blurred together. Suddenly, it was June, and all I could think was: I half-assed everything.
The disappointment in myself was thick. I was supposed to be building a new path, not barely keeping my head above water.
But here’s what I’m learning the hard way:
Plans are not promises. They are just directions we scribble down before life reroutes us. That mentorship program I couldn’t give my full attention to? It doesn’t mean I failed. It means I was human in a storm. That LinkedIn suspension? Not a reflection of my worth. That voice in my head calling me a disappointment? A liar.
When the gap between what you hoped to do and what you actually did feels too wide, try this:
Close your eyes. Breathe in for four seconds. Hold it. Let it out slowly. Do it again.
Now, ask yourself: If my best friend told me this story, would I call them a failure? Of course not. You’d say: You showed up, even when it was hard. That counts.
The truth is, some months are for thriving. Others are for surviving. June doesn’t owe you a perfect comeback. It just asks you to keep going.
So if you’re like me, staring at the pieces of a plan that didn’t work out, wondering if you’ll ever get it together, hear this:
You are not falling behind. You are not half-assing your life. You are adjusting.
And adjustment is its own kind of strength.
